Project One

Optimising Imaging Conditions

Project Objectives:

  1. Optimise the hardware components of PB-CT scans (e.g. patient support device, breast holder and a new detector) to maximise radiological image quality and minimise radiation dose.
  2. Develop protocols for beam energy, radiation dose and phase-retrieval algorithms for a range of breast sizes and compositions.
  3. Evaluate dosimetry, safety, motion stability and simulation data.

Visual grading characteristics analysis curves for PB-CT images at different imaging conditions. The area under the VGC curves measure the difference in image quality between two compared image sets.

The values of spatial resolution measured inside the lesion for images reconstructed with SIRT (1000 iterations) algorithm with none, half (0.5 phr) and full (phr) phase retrieval.
