Professor Sarah Lewis, Co-Chair

Professor Lewis is currently the Associate Dean of Research Performance for the Faculty of Medicine and Health. As a Professor of Medical Imaging, Sarah’s other substantive role is in cancer imaging, supervision of HDR students and accreditation.

Dr Duncan Butler
Director, Primary Standards Dosimetry Laboratory, Medical Radiation Services Branch, Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA)
Duncan has 22 years of experience with radiation measurement at ARPANSA where he is the Director of the Primary Standards Dosimetry Laboratory (PSDL). The laboratory maintains primary standards for radiation dose and calibrates dosimetry equipment, mainly for medical applications, including radiotherapy. Duncan’s research interests include the spatial response of radiation detectors and high dose rate measurements, especially as applied to synchrotron radiation. He is currently the Chair of the Technical Committee for Ionizing Radiation in the Asia Pacific Metrology Programme.
Mr Paul Clancy
Director, Business Development Europe, Volpara Health
Paul Clancy is a 20+ year veteran of the Medical IT and Radiology industries. Coming from a technical sales background, Paul has worked in public and private healthcare in Ireland and New Zealand. Most recently at Volpara Health Technologies where Paul held technical and Global Business Development roles supporting delivery of Breast Cancer AI software delivery across the Asia Pacific region and the United States.

Professor Jack Jellins
Adjunct Professor, Breast Imaging, University of Sydney
Jack Jellins, a graduate of the University of Sydney and the University of NSW, was a biomedical research scientist based at the Ultrasonics Institute in Sydney. Over a 25-year period, Jack leads the research into ultrasonic breast imaging where he made significant contributions to the technology and the clinical evaluation that brought this new imaging modality into mainstream medical practice. In the 1990s, Jack formed the IBUS Breast Imaging School (as it is now known) and this organization based in Europe provides intensive short courses for health professionals. The school achieved the recognition of being the leading international provider of multidisciplinary breast imaging courses with a practical “hands-on” focus. Whilst no longer teaching, Jack continues as Founding President and contributes to the IBUS Executive.
Dr Yobelli Jimenez
Lecturer, The University of Sydney
Dr Yobelli Jimenez is a qualified Radiation Therapist and is currently a Lecturer in the Discipline of Medical Imaging Science at the University of Sydney. She is currently the Health Profession Education Lead for Diagnostic Radiography. Dr Jimenez has clinical experience and research expertise in radiation therapy education for women with breast cancer. Dr Jimenez also has a strong interest in health profession education research, currently working on projects involving student wellbeing and ethics education, as well as infection prevention and control in the computed tomography environment.
Dr Beena Kumar
Program Director, Monash Health Pathology
Beena has held medical leadership roles within the Department of Pathology and the Anatomical Pathology Unit. She is a specialist anatomical pathologist with eighteen years of specialist experience. She has keen interest in breast and haematolymphoid pathology and is the designated pathologist for Monash Breast Screen and the Lymphoma Working Group at Monash Medical Centre. Beena holds an academic position, within the School of Clinical Sciences, affiliated to Monash University. She is involved in medical research and has worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research and the University of Melbourne. Beena has built a strong relationship with Monash University and the Translational Research Facility to strengthen the role of Monash Pathology in teaching and translational research. She has 88 publications in peer reviewed journals.
Dr Foruhar Moayeri

Foruhar is a medical professional (MBBS) with a degree in public health and a PhD in health economics. He has 16 years’ career at management level with national health authorities and international organization such as World Health Organisation.
Dr Stephen Newbury
Principal Health Physicist, Tasmanian Department of Health, Radiation Protection Unit
Stephen obtained a PhD in Physics from La Trobe University in 1986. A Research Fellow at UNSW developing infrared focal plane array. Research Associate at University of Mass and USAF developing novel communications systems. Health Physicist since 1993 currently Principal Health Physicist. Represents Tasmania on the Radiation Health Committee.
Professor Kathryn Refshauge
Professor of Allied Health (Strategic Partnerships), The University of Sydney
Professor Refshauge is a researcher, educator and senior executive. Her musculoskeletal physiotherapy research integrates her physiotherapy, biomedical engineering and physiology backgrounds to improve health outcomes. Her recent research explores health system improvements. Professor Refshauge’s awards for education include: Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning from Australian Learning and Teaching Council (2011), Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Research Student Supervision (2011) and University awards. She has significant experience on boards both in the education and health sectors. Some current examples include: Non-Executive Director of International College of Management Sydney; Chair of Advisory Board of DetectedX; member of the Central and Eastern Sydney PHN Clinical Council. Professor Refshauge received an Order of Australia (2016) and is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences.
Professor Mary Rickard
Chief Medical Officer and Co-Founder DetectedX
Mary is a world recognized Breast Imaging Radiologist with broad ranging expertise in imaging techniques and interpretation and in professional training. She is an Adjunct Professor within the Discipline of Medical Imaging Sciences at the University of Sydney. Her enthusiasm for raising the quality of breast imaging services began when she established Australia’s first pilot mammography screening programme in 1987 and was subsequently appointed as the first NSW State Radiologist for BreastScreen Australia in New South Wales.
She has published extensively and has been invited to teach in many countries across Europe and Asia, as well as in Australia and New Zealand. She has worked with government advisory and professional bodies in Australia and with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in developing quality standards for radiology practice.
Her work was recognized in 2002 with a Member of the Order of Australia Medal (OAM), for service to medicine through the integration of population-based screening for early detection of breast cancer, and the development of education programs for health professionals. In 2015 she was elected a Life Member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the College and to the profession.
Mrs Beverlee Macdonell-Scott
Breastscreen NSW Lead Radiographer, Cancer Institute NSW
Beverlee trained as a Radiographer at Royal Prince Alfred hospital and worked in private practice before joining BreastScreen in 1994. As well as her Radiographer Diploma, she holds a BS in Primary Education (USA), Graduate Certificate in Breast Imaging (UniSA), and a Master in MRS (USyd).
